Indian Spice Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
1 3/4 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp gound cloves
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
2 tbs milk
1 tsp grated lemon zest
1 tbs lemon juice
Prep
Mix flour, baking powder, salt, cardomom, ginger and cloves in a medium bowl - set aside.
In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Add sugar, beat until smooth.
Beat in vanilla, egg and milk.
Beat in lemon zest and juice.
Gradually beat in reserved flour mixture.
Roll into 1" thin log and refrigerate an hour.
Cut 1" pieces and back on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake in a preheated 350 oven 8-10 minutes until golden.
Let cool a few minutes on the baking pan, then transfer to cooling rack.
Store in an airtight container up to one week.
